Nearly 20 years and still using Roboform

Every couple of years or so, when I'm bored, I download several of the best alternatives to Roboform and give them a thorough test. Some look prettier. Most can't fill in complex passwords and various other shortcomings when filling in !
Why do I want a password manager ? To ensure I don't forget security details AND to automatically populate screens. Roboform can do that. None of the others seem to be able to, so why would I change ? They at least need to be able to do the fundamentals well. Oh, you can give marks for functions I'm not interested in to the other not-so-good password managers, but, as far as I'm concerned, for a program that remembers my details and automatically fills them in properly ... it's almost 5 stars for Roboform (it could look a bit prettier)

Don't ever trust RoboForm/Siber Systems

Used RoboForm many years ago, when they sold RoboForm with a one-time license purchase with free upgrades for life - unlike their subscription service now, so they can squeeze their customers on a regular basis. Well, Siber Systems, the RoboForm company, lied and reneged on their lifetime upgrade promise, screwing over many customers. Apparently, they are still blatant liars, as a 2014 article by a security expert called, "How secure is #Roboform? The 5 minute challenge", exposed their pathological lying and serious security flaws. Roboform now boasts of cloud backup - which would require a hell of a leap in trust from a company as shady as Siber Systems. Bottom line: use at your own risk, these thieving lying bastards should be in prison.
Can't live without it!

Been using RF since day 1. Back when it was desktop only and now with the cloud this software holds all my information and I mean everything. There isn't many progs out there that get my money but you decide on how much is your private data worth?

I have to agree with much of the reviewer says but I am left confused as to why it is only rated 3 1/2 stars. I started using Roboform back when it was rated one of the top password managers. I am one of those casual users she mentions and it is true I do not use many of the features svailable. After over decade of using Roboform I have become comfortable and familiar with it. The program offerings have had its ups and downs but never anything major. For quite some time now rarely it makes it into the top ten of any review. I will occasionally look at the other highly rated programs. I do not find any reason to dislike any of them. Not worth the money, no support

I bought two licenses several years ago and now I get all kinds of error and warning messages telling me basically that my versions have expired and they want more money. The program has never worked like I expected it to and I have never received the support I needed. I wouldn't give them another dime. I'll go somewhere else.

I have been using Roboforms for several years. I really like the latest addtion of placing a Roboform by the empty fields in a Web page. That really saves a great deal of back and forth mouse movements for thos sites that don't work 100% with Roboform.
Roboform used to be good but now it is crap

They deliberately have screwed up the desktop version so you have to open an account with them whether you like it or not. They have screwed up the browser compatibility and deliberately sabotaged backwards compatibility of their software and browser extensions. They have become arrogant extortionists that refuse to give users who want only a desktop the password manager what they want.

Bisher funktioniert RoboForm sehr gut. Vor allem auch die App für Smartphone/Tablet.
Die Handhabung ist aus meiner Sicht weitestgehend selbsterklärend und insgesamt einfach.
Ich habe keine Erfahrung mit anderen Passwortmanagern, habe aber die Wahl nicht bereut.

Roboform zwingt einen, ein Konto anzulegen. Das Konto wird durch dasselbe Passwort geschützt, mit dem auch die Passwörter verschlüsselt werden. Da das Passwort oft eingegeben werden muss, wird man es nicht allzu lang wählen. Für jemanden mit Zugriff auf die Daten (die in den USA liegen!), sollten die Passwörter also zu entschlüsseln sein! Roboform bietet keine Variante an, die vollständig lokal und ohne Konto bei Roboform auskommt. Sicherheit ist etwas anderes! Ulrich
